Instructions on downloading and installing Caldes Development Valuer Software

FOR WINDOWS: 2000, XP, VISTA AND WINDOWS 7

(Mac users will have to run Parallels, Virtual PC or similar.)


STEP 1: DOWNLOAD USER GUIDE:

Before installing the software, we strongly recommend that you Download the PDF quick guide by clicking here.  This gives you a quick overview of how to set up a new project and will make your experience significantly easier.


STEP 2: INSTALL SOFTWARE:

Both trial and full versions of the software are downloaded from here.  The software will automatically know if it has been licensed or is a trial.

Warning to existing users - If you have an old version of the software and want to upgrade to this current version, you must have a valid support agreement or we cannot issue you with a password to unlock the software.

Even seasoned IT people should read these simple instructions before downloading. There are a couple of important points which must be followed for the installation to work correctly. 


STANDARD VERSION / DEMO :

(Note - If you are running Windows 7 64 bit then see the troubleshooting section below first.)

PART 1: WINDOWS XP AND VISTA/7 USERS:

  • Click on the button once below and wait for the download screen.  
  • When prompted, click run
  • Follow the on-screen intructions to install the software
  • Run the software from your Windows Start menu -> All Programs -> Caldes Software -> Caldes Dev Valuer V6 
  • Call Caldes on +44 (0)870 420 8348 during normal office hours and ask for 'support' to unlock the demo.

NETWORK VERSION ONLY:

PART 1: WINDOWS XP AND VISTA/7 USERS:

  • Click on the button once below and wait for the download screen.  
  • When prompted, please DO NOT click run. 
  • Instead, you must SAVE the file (leave the name the same) to a new temporary directory on your hard disk and remember where you save the file. PLEASE DO NOT save to your desktop. (The installation will not run correctly from here.)
  • Expand the installation file from there by double clicking on it (calup.exe) 
  • (Existing users only - If you are installing the software over existing software on a 'network' then you should back up and then delete everything in the 'cdtempl' subdirectory on the server.) 

PART 2: WINDOWS VISTA / 7 USERS ONLY:

  • Right click on setupdv.exe and select 'Properties' at the bottom of the list.
  • In the pop up window select the 'Compatibility' tab
  • Tick the box 'Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
  • At the bottom of the page, tick 'Run this program as an administrator'
  • Click 'Apply' and then 'OK'
PART 3: WINDOWS XP AND VISTA/7 USERS:

  • Run the installation program by double clicking on the Setupdv.exe file.  (Note that there are 2 setupdv files.  If nothing happens try the other file.)  
  • Run the software from your Windows Start menu -> All Programs -> Caldes Software.
  • Call Caldes on +44 (0)870 420 8348 during normal office hours and ask for 'support' to unlock the demo.

TROUBLESHOOTING WINDOWS VISTA/7 USERS:

If you have problems installing the software you may need to turn off account control.  Follow these instructions:

1. Go to Control Panel

2. Open User Accounts (also known as User Account Control or UAC)

3a. VISTA: Turn User Account Control off

3b. WINDOWS 7: Change level to 'Never Notify'

4. Restart PC. 

5. Continue with installation

Please note that it is not advised to keep this permanently at this level, just during installation to see if it is blocking your software.



WINDOWS 7 64 BIT:

To use developer on Windows 64 bit, you need to download Windows Virtual PC, free from Microsoft
